Things to avoid after and during a colon cleanse

Things to avoid after and during a colon cleanse

So you have finally made the leap and decided to begin a colon cleanse? After putting all your time into researching and understand exactly what is involved with a colon cleanse, you are ready to take the next step. By now you are probably aware that this will not be some magical solution to health or weight loss.

In fact, a colon cleanse is only the first step to protecting your overall health. If you are preparing for, or in the midst of a cleanse, it is important to establish a healthy diet to ensure your system stays clean. The primary reason you need a cleanse in the first place is due to your original unhealthy diet, so do your best to avoid that habit. Below, I will outline both things you should avoid and things you should include into your new diet.

1)      Things to Avoid:

Not surprisingly, most of the foods you have been taught to avoid throughout your life for various reasons are also harmful to your colon. Here is a basic list of foods to avoid for various reasons: coffee, soda, potato chips, cookies, cakes, pies, all fast food, Ramen and other “quick make” foods, alcohol and pasteurized milk.

Another food item which should be closely monitored is rice intake. Furthermore, though it is not exactly part of your “diet,” smoking should be avoided at all costs. You are likely well aware of the dangers of smoking, but it becomes additionally dangerous during a colon cleanse.

2)      Things to Add:

People often testify to experiencing usual levels of exhaustion during a colon cleanse. The main reason for this is due to lack of supplements and improper diet. Because you are thoroughly cleansing your entire body, the process can be a bit strenuous. Adding supplements to your diet will help reduce this tension.

A good cleansing will remove all bacteria from your body, including the healthy variety. It is important that you rebuild this bacteria with a probiotic. Another supplement which may be beneficial are Vitamin C pills. This will help increase your energy levels and battle against the lethargy which may be plaguing you.

Additionally, raw egg yolks are tremendously beneficial. These contain literally all the vitamins you need in a given day. Eating one raw egg yolk today, no matter how disgusting it may seem to you, is the equivalent of taking a multivitamin.

Other things which should become heavily involved in your diet are foods high in fiber content, fruits and anything green and leafy.  Lettuces, spinaches, and broccolis for example are excellent for your colon and digestive system.

If you are embarking upon a colon cleanse, you are likely interested in adopting a new, healthier lifestyle. A major aspect of this lifestyle is a balanced diet including copious amounts of fruits and vegetables, high fiber foods and supplements. Do not be deceived into thinking a colon cleanse is the be-all, end-all to maintaining good health. Conversely, a colon cleanse is a tremendous starting point to a new and healthy lifestyle.
